Dalam rangka merayakan Hari Batik Nasional yang jatuh pada Jumat (2/10), Google Arts & Culture bersama dengan Kementerian Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan (Kemendikbud) RI, Museum Tekstil Jakarta, dan Yayasan Batik Indonesia (YBI), mengumumkan fitur terbaru untuk halaman Batik di Google Arts & Culture. Melalui laman ini, diharapkan masyarakat luas bisa mengenal batik melalui gawainya.

“Inisiatif ini merayakan batik, kain kebanggaan Indonesia, dengan membagikannya kepada lebih banyak audiens, memudahkan pembelajaran dan membantu industri lokal untuk berkembang,” kata Amit Sood, Direktur Cultural Institute and Art Project di Google, dalam siaran virtual, Kamis (1/10).

“Dengan melakukannya, kami juga ingin menunjukkan rasa hormat kepada keterampilan seni, kreativitas, dan ketangguhan orang-orang Indonesia, khususnya para seniman yang melestarikan kerajinan ini,” lanjut Amit.
Halaman Batik di Google Arts & Culture saat ini berisi lebih dari 1.100 tekstil Indonesia yang ditampilkan dalam resolusi ultra-tinggi dan ditangkap dengan Art Camera. Koleksinya meliputi 900 batik (45 pola batik baru), 200 tradisi tekstil Indonesia lainnya (seperti ikat, ulos, dan songket).

Selain informasi seputar motif batik, dalam laman ini Anda juga bisa menemukan sejumlah cerita digital pilihan kurator ahli, materi edukasi yang terintegrasi dan dapat diunduh bagi para pengajar, pelajar, dan orang tua, serta sorotan UKM batik lokal.

Kepala Hubungan Publik Asia Tenggara, Google Asia Tenggara, Ryan Rahardjo menambahkan, selain dapat diakses oleh masyarakat luas, pihaknya juga merekomendasikan laman ini untuk dapat diakses oleh pelajar dengan rentang usia 11–14 tahun, agar dapat mengenal batik melalui gawai bersama orang tua.
“Yang dibutuhkan hanya gawai dan internet, untuk lesson pack ini bisa dipelajari pelajar bersama dengan keluarga, terkait memahami batik dalam waktu 60 menit, yang meliputi sejarah, teknik, simbol, pattern, dan DIY,” kata Ryan.

“Ada extra discovery dengan waktu 45 menit mengenai desain, warna, words search, dan kuis menarik dan interaktif juga. Diharapkan ini bisa jadi education resource untuk belajar tentang batik,” ujarnya melanjutkan.

To celebrate National Batik Day which falls on Friday (2/10), Google Arts & Culture together with the Indonesian Ministry of Education and Culture (Kemendikbud), the Jakarta Textile Museum, and the Indonesian Batik Foundation (YBI), announced the latest features for the Batik page at Google Arts & Culture. Through this page, they hope that more communities get to know batik form Indonesia through its device.

“This initiative is to celebrate batik as Indonesia’s proud fabric, by distributing it to a wider demographic, facilitating learning and helping local industries to develop,” said Amit Sood, Director of the Cultural Institute and Art Project at Google, in a virtual broadcast, Thursday (1/10) .

“By doing so, we also want to pay respect to the artistic skills, creativity and resilience of Indonesians, especially the artists who preserve this craft,” continued Amit.

The Batik page on Google Arts & Culture currently displays more than 1,100 Indonesian textiles in ultra-high resolution captured with the Art Camera. This collection includes 900 batiks (45 new batik patterns), 200 other Indonesian textile traditions (such as ikat, ulos and songket).

In addition to information about batik patterns, there are also available on the page a number of digital stories selected by expert curators, integrated and downloadable educational materials for teachers, students, and parents, as well as highlights of local batik SMEs.

Head of Southeast Asia Public Relations, Southeast Asia Google , Ryan Rahardjo added, apart from being accessible to more communities, his party also recommended that this page be accessible to students aged 11-14 years, so they can get to know batik through gadgets guided by parents.

For those of you who want to visit the Jakarta Textile Museum, Google Street View will take you on a virtual visit, as an additional learning material to serve the users.
